Course Description

With more than two million tests taken in the past year alone, the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is one of the world’s most popular English language proficiency tests. The test is accepted by over 8,000 organizations in 125 countries worldwide. This includes educational institutes, immigration authorities, employers, and professional bodies.

Duke’s IELTS courses have been created and help students understand the test and prepare for it. By preparing for the test, students will be building the skills they need to succeed and achieve their goals.

IELTS measures how well test takers use English, not just their knowledge of the language. English skills such as speaking, writing, reading, and listening are all taken into consideration and because it is a valid test with objective scoring, this test confirms that a student has the necessary skills to succeed in different settings. IELTS is created to reflect real-life use of the English language at a work related, educational, and everyday level.

You can take one from two versions of the test – IELTS General Training or IELTS Academic – depending on what it is you need exactly. Both tests are made up of four separate parts – Speaking, Writing, Reading, and Listening.

Start your preparation for the IELTS test by joining one of our classes. Here at Duke we will focus on your individual needs and help you ace the IELTS test.

Requirements

Upon arrival, a student will take a level assessment test that is used to place students in their appropriate classes.
